Sanpete Spur & Silver Newsletter

VOLUME 6 / Spring & Summer 2007

FROM OUR HEARTS AND HANDS

Hi Again.
We have been so busy we skipped our normal spring newsletter.
So here is a two in one again.

Vivian has been finishing a selection of sterling silver wild rag slides, and I thought I would catch her working. COMING SOON we will add care instructions to our site for many of the items we sell. When you click on a category you may then look for the care link which will be in white lettering. We have a lot of customers ask us, "Is this the silver that tarnishes?" when they are looking at sterling silver....and this is what we tell them.

ADVICE ON PRESERVING STERLING SILVER

Wear or use it regularly. Silver looks best when it is worn often, a slight amount of tarnish actually accents the detail of the piece by adding a darker patina to the engraving and the top part is constantly polished by rubbing on your clothing. If it's not used, it tarnishes completely.

STERLING SILVER STORAGE:

When storing sterling silver items, place them in a clean, dry, air tight container to preserve the pieces. Air speeds up the tarnishing process.
Polish as needed. We sell polishing cloths. to clean and polish your silver and brass. They are a simple, no mess way to keep your silver and brass looking new and shiny. If you use other polish, make sure it is formulated for sterling silver, and apply and buff with a soft cloth. Avoid chemical dips, as they strip and dull metal. A soft toothbrush may be used on textured silver to remove embedded grit, but avoid using a toothbrush on smooth silver, as it could scratch the surface.

MEMORIAL DAY Weekend - MAY 26, 2007 - Presented by the FRIENDS OF SPRING CITY

We now have a portable engraving table and tools. We sometimes set Vivian up at different events (like this one at Horseshoe Mountain Pottery) so people can get a birds eye view of the engraving process.
Here is another artesian at Horseshoe Mountain Pottery this year. Carol Milne (The Beehive Weaver) demonstrates on her portable loom the art of weaving.
Above is Joe the Potter (Horseshoe Mountain Pottery) making pottery by hand on a foot powered treadle wheel.
Jessie and Flash, our now 2 yr. old gelding, are enjoying the spring day together.

What would our grand babies do, if they couldn't run through the sprinklers on a hot summer day. This one is a big sprinkler spewing 85 gallons of water a minute.

A beaver pound accents this beautiful landscape up Ephraim Canyon, where we ride our horses sometimes. The view is breath taking! Lets see whats happening below!!
Evan (another grand son) walks up on his mother (Char) while she is walking on a downed log
ok mom....go tell me where the beaver are
Another view of the Aspen trees in Ephram canyon, just before the sun went down.

Come to Spring City and visit. Enjoy the hospitality at the Windwalker Guest Ranch or the bed and breakfasts we have in our town.

Till next time

From our hands to your heart!
