At the cowboy poetry gathering I talked to a buckle collector who told me that this Vintage Utah Territory American Express buckle was priced right
but it was not original. It was part of a scam. The guy made these buckles and sold them then he sold a book which authenticated them. He made more on the books than the buckles!
On the back side it has: American Express Co. recommend Kyanize brass polish. It has the words rare stones, a NTY inside of a chevron, Tiffany Broadway New York under the wire loop, the ad on the buckle back Kyanize brass polish and some other text we can't make out.
